In 1998, Hurstbourne Acres City Park was renamed the Stanley B. Welch City Park in honor of Mr. Stanley B. Welch, who served as Commissioner and Mayor of the City of Hurstbourne Acres for many years.

The park is approximately 2.5 acres and provides a shaded area for many activities. The Brick Well House located there is believed to be about 100 years old. Adjacent to the park is a 5 acre retention basin and green space with a berm that adds openness and space for various activities.

Each year the city holds its Annual Summer Picnic and Easter Egg Hunt at the park. The park is available for residents personal use and for functions like family reunions and picnics. The most popular feature of the park is the playground area with new equipment, including swings and seating.
